API / Integration

You will be able to SMS-enable any application, website or system via a range of Application Programming Interface (API) connections or API’s. These API’s ensure you can connect easily to our SMS Gateway. SMSPortal gives you the immediate capability to deliver and receive messages to-and-from any application via our gateway.

You have a choice of 4 connection options (HTTP Post, Web services, SQL (windows service) and FTP Upload). They are quick and easy to implement and are suited to a wide spectrum of uses. To view detailed info on all the below API please visit www.mymobileapi.com. If you require assistance please feel free to contact james@smsportal.co.za.

Learn more about each of our API connectivity options below:
  • HTTP Post/Get
With HTTP Post you can perform credit lookups, send single or multiple sms's, retrieve replies, retrieve history etc. SMSPortal also supports pushing data to your server via HTTP Post. You provide SMSPortal with a URL and we post to the URL specified when replies are received. Visit www.mymobileapi.com for more information.
  • Web services
SMSPortal provides various functions to send/receive sms's. Visit www.mymobileapi.com for more information.
  • FTP Upload
Suitable for high volume messaging. The FTP upload facility allows customers to upload text files to an FTP server, and have the files automatically dispatched to message recipients. Visit www.mymobileapi.com for more information.
  • SQL (Windows service)
The windows service has been written to facilitate all the communication between a locally installed application and the SMS Gateway. To read more Visit www.mymobileapi.com.

  • The windows service allows you to write complex messaging tools without the need to understand/learn/integrate with the existing API. The platform runs on a Windows Server with the DotNet 2 framework installed. Access to a SQL server 2000/2005/Express database is also required.

Two versions have been written, a windows service and a console version. Source code is supplied for both so it can be modified to meet the clients’ requirements. Due to the architecture of the service, it provides the user with flexibility to allow it to integrate with external applications through the use of stored procedures. Visit www.mymobileapi.com for more information.
